Upon your first visit, I will determine the best form of treatment depending on your needs. A typical therapy session will include Swedish Massage, Myofasial and Deep Tissue / Trigger Point Massage. I may also incorporate Cupping and/or Gua Sha in your therapy sessions.
A relaxing massage perfect for stress reduction, gentle pressure and soothing kneading strokes are applied to increase blood circulation and to release toxins in the superficial muscle layers.
A dry, hands-on technique that applies mild, sustained pressure to the body, this stretches and releases the connective tissue (fascia) and any adhesions to its underlying structures. Releases tension, decreases pain, and reduces tightness.
Deep tissue / Trigger point
Corrective Body work that focuses on the deep muscle layers. Increases, circulation, releases toxins of specific muscles, and breaks up scar tissue from any previous injuries. Begins with myosfascial release myofascial release and swedish massage, and then progresses to the slow deep theraeutic strokes of muscle stripping with focused trigger point therapy. Very effective for areas of chronic pain.
Cupping Therapy dates back to Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. It involves small cups suctioned to the skin and then the cup is glided over the skin. A cup may be "parked" for a short time over knots, or inflamed joints or tissue. Cupping Therapy is used to draw out excess fluids and toxins, bring blood flow back to stagnant muscles skin, loosen adhesions, connective tissue and stubborn knots in soft tissue. Those with chronic pain, injuries, poor posture, slow healing, scar tissue can benefit.
Gua Sha is an ancient tissue massage technique in which small smooth tools are rubbed across the skin breaking adhesions and creating increased circulation. This process helps to wash-out toxins and bring in fresh oxygenated blood. Gua Sha is used to treat chronic neck, shoulder and back pain, sprains, strains, and stress.
